Welcome to WiReD, the BIS Wildlife Recording Database, our website for recording your wildlife sightings within Powys and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

By creating an account and registering for BIS Wired your wildlife records will be shared with the recording community. By turning your wildlife sightings into biological records you will be contributing to science and conservation.

Your biological records may be checked by experts and made available to those that need them for their research or decision making.

You now need to use your username to log in - previously your email address was accepted. If you have forgotten your username click here for a reminder email.

You can also enter your records using your smartphone, with the LERC Wales App (part of the iRecord family of Apps). Follow this link for more info. Use the same email address as BIS WiReD to register for the App and see all your WiReD, LERC Wales App and iRecord records in WiReD.

BIS Wired is based on the same technology as iRecord and other Indicia systems, but is a separate entity so any iRecord log-in details will not work in BIS Wired.

Please also remember that the recent records map only represents records that have been entered into this system and does not show all records held in BIS’s main database system. To view a summary of records held by BIS in your area go to the public Aderyn site.

Biodiversity Information Service for Powys and Brecon Beacons National Park (BIS) is the centre for the collation, management and dissemination of biodiversity data for mid-Wales. Our aim is to make appropriate local biodiversity information available to all those who need it, to help ensure that decisions which affect local biodiversity are made using best available data. For more information about us, please visit our main website.

Please note we have updated this website which may mean that you need to clear you browser cookies in order to log on. Please get in touch if you are unsure how to do this!
